Senior citizens and low-moderate income families are particularly vulnerable to hunger, especially at the end of the month when their funds are depleted. Often, they are faced with having to make a difficult decision about whether to purchase food, fill their prescriptions for medications, or pay the rent or utility bills. Our Brown Bag program has provided grocery assistance to seniors who are 60 years of age and older and individuals who meet the income eligibility requirements. Every fourth Tuesday of each month, volunteers assist staff in carefully packing grocery bags with nutritious foods to supplement the diets of those in need. With the help of volunteers, the bags of food are distributed to eligible seniors and individuals in the community.
